It seems appropriate that as we begin a new term we are also welcoming in the Māori New Year - Matariki. Celebrating Matariki across the country and at our kura provides us with the opportunity to reflect the value we place on our cultural heritage and helps us to grow our sense of national identity. I hope that you have had an opportunity to spend time with your families and enjoy some of the great events organised in our communities like Ngaa Paki o Matariki. Our Kapa Haka rōpū performed at this event and more details follow in this newsletter.
