Rototuna Junior High School offers sister school exchanges to 3 overseas schools each year. These are fees free exchanges, in an effort to make the experiences as accessible to RJHS students as possible.

Kumon Kokusai Gakuen Junior High School and Jishukan Secondary School (Japan)
Each year, between 10 and 15 Year 10 students travel to Yokohama and Isehara, respectively, for a 2-3 week cultural and language exchange. The students stay at either the Kumon Junior High School boarding facility for 3 weeks or with the Japanese host families of Jishukan for 2 weeks. During their time in Japan, they participate in the programs offered by both schools. This exchange is available to students who have studied Japanese up to and including Year 9.
Kumon Leysin Academy of Switzerland
Starting this year, five students will have the exciting opportunity to take part in a 6-week exchange at Kumon Leysin Academy in Switzerland. This experience will allow them to engage with peers from various nationalities and cultures, fostering valuable cross-cultural learning. In addition to gaining insights into Swiss languages, students will explore European culture both inside and outside the classroom. The students stay at their boarding facility, where they develop independence and enhance their self-management skills. This exchange is available to students in Year 10 (and Year 11 at RSHS) who have taken part in Te Āo Māori learning opportunities at RJHS.
