Basketball is a popular winter sporting code at RHS, with up to 20 teams each year across all age groups. We offer Basketball only in terms 2 and 3. Teams range from social to competitive, with our top competitive teams heading away to several tournaments during the year.
Competition Season (Runs for Terms 2 and 3)
Years 7 and 8: Miniball - played in term 2 and term 3 Tuesday nights.
Term 2 starts Tuesday 28th April.
Secondary (yrs 9-13): Competition runs for Term 2 / Term 3.
Monday: Jnr Prem Boys - 27 April - 24 August
Tuesday: Jnr Prem Girls/All Jnr Grades - 28 April - 25 August
Wednesday: Snr Boys and Girls (non prem grade) - 29 April - 26 August
Thursday: Snr Boys Prem Reserve - 30 April - 27 August
Friday: Snr Girls Prem Reservem, and Snr Prem grades - 1 May - 28 August
Trial Dates:
Keep an eye on Schoology and Google Classroom for trial dates and team selections
Team Finalisations
Teams will be announced via email, and then Team Reach groups set up for each team.
Please note that students don’t have to trial - they can indicate on the Kindo form if they wish to be placed into a team with friends instead of trialing
Tournament Key Dates:
WIMS Basketball (yr 7 and 8) Boys and Girls: Tuesday 15th September. The Peak.
AA Premiership (Senior Prem): 2nd-5th September. Rotorua (or)
Northern Cup (Senior Prem): TBA. Auckland
**Please note that if you child is selected in the Snr team, the cost for attending this tournament will be approx $500**
AIMS Basketball (yr 7 and 8): Boys and Girls: September 7-11, 2026, Baypark Mount Maunganui.

There may be opportunities for Junior (yr9/10) Prem teams to also attend tournaments subject to release of these dates from BBNZ.

Uniform
School issued basketball singlet - numbered - supplied for season on loan (Must be returned at the end of the season).
Black PE shorts
Indoor court shoes are required for play (non-marking)
Senior premier teams will be provided with full playing kit (singlet and shorts)
School issued uniforms will be collected at the end of the season.
Any unreturned uniforms will be charged at full replacement cost
