Curriculum

We Connect - We Inspire - We Soar

Through our innovative curriculum design and outstanding educators we challenge our students to question, to explore and to think as they develop and deepen their learning.

A student receives hands-on guidance from a teacher in a woodwork class while using tools on a workbench.

As a Senior School our curriculum is made up of three interconnected strands:

  • Whānau | Advisory
  • Wānanga Ako | Specialist Learning
  • Puna Wānanga | Impact Projects

In Whānau | Advisory we recognise that every student needs a strong sense of belonging. All students have a Kaiārahi | Advisor who will champion their learning success.

In Wānanga Ako | Specialist Learning all our programmes are founded in the New Zealand Curriculum and linked to the New Zealand Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA). Wānanga Ako are designed to create deep learning experiences and deliver specialist learning, some of these as integrated modules.

In Puna Wānanga | Impact Projects our students have the opportunity to develop future-focused skills using a design thinking process to progress a project or pathway that connects to the community.

We are a Senior High School, so it is important our students are able to connect their learning to the world around them. We believe that the learning environment and opportunities we provide will empower your young person to excel both personally and academically.

“The air up there in the clouds is very pure and fine, bracing and delicious.
And why shouldn't it be?
... It is the same the angels breathe.”
