At Rototuna Senior High School, we continue to promote the importance of regular attendance, but just as crucial is arriving on time. Being on time, especially for the start of the day, sets the tone for success.
Whānau time (8:45–9:30am) is a vital part of our daily rhythm. It’s more than just roll check, it’s when we connect and support students to navigate their learning journey. Right now, this includes important activities such as:
Exploring future pathways beyond school through our Whānau Huarahi Ako Curriculum (Yr 11 & Yr 12 students)
Pathway conversations and planning, including University Applications & Scholarships (Yr 13 students)
Tracking of their NCEA credits and attendance
Building connections and caring culture
When students arrive late, they miss out on these key touchpoints and over time, it adds up. Frequent lateness affects learning, disrupts class flow, and can lead to a sense of disconnection.
Please help us reinforce the importance of arriving at school on time. Encourage your young person to be at school, ready to learn by 8:45am each morning.
Together, let’s keep supporting our students to show up, be present, and get the most out of their school day.
