We value the strong relationships we have with our local community, and recently some of our neighbours have shared concerns about our student behaviour in the areas surrounding our kura.
These concerns include litter being left behind, shopping trolleys being removed from the supermarket, unsafe driving, and parking in restricted areas. More recently we have been receiving complaints about students riding through gardens, damaging plants in the wooded area leading to the underpass behind Overton Street and leaving a large amount of litter in this area.
This is an important reminder that the choices we make beyond the school gates still reflect who we are as a community. Our actions have an impact on others, and part of caring thinking is pausing to consider how what we do affects the people and environment around us.
We ask that whānau take a moment to talk with their young person about being respectful, responsible, and mindful when moving through our neighbourhood; looking after shared spaces, acting safely, and treating our neighbours with the same respect we expect within our kura and at home.
By working together, we can strengthen relationships with those around us and continue to show manaakitanga in action.
Thank you for your support.
