The SPCA team were very grateful for the surprise delivery and talked about how great these will be for dogs mental stimulation while they are waiting for their furever family to adopt them.
They also informed us that 16+ year olds can sign up to volunteer in helping with the cat enclosure cleaning and kitten play, while 18+ year olds are invited to help with the dog kennels, and this often includes walking the dogs.
In terms of supplies they would love to see more of, crochet cats toys are in big demand as well as bedding and crate covers (this could be sheets with a hole for the carry handle, that give cats privacy in transport, helping them remain calm).
The group enjoyed seeing their hard mahi being well received, and celebrated with whakawhanaungatanaga and Frozen Floats at McDonalds. We then tested out the toys on some friendly dogs from Pooch Pack; the rope toy was very popular, as were the pats and cuddles from the group!
