This Matariki, Rototuna Senior High School is proud to join alongside Te Wharekura o Kirikiriroa and Tai Wānanga in a shared Hautapu celebration as part of Te Herenga Waka o ngā Kura o Wairere.
The kaupapa of Herenga Waka represents the coming together as people, schools, and communities to celebrate Matariki as one. By combining our strengths and working collectively, we create meaningful opportunities for our tauira to learn, connect, and honour the traditions of Matariki.
This partnership reflects the words of Kīngi Pōtatau Te Wherowhero:
"Kotahi te kōhao o te ngira e kuhuna ai te miro mā, te miro pango, te miro whero."
"Through the eye of the needle pass the white thread, the black thread, and the red thread."
As we move closer to Matariki, we will be sharing more information about the kaupapa and the celebrations taking place.
We warmly invite our students, whānau, and wider community to join us as we come together to acknowledge the past, celebrate the present, and look towards the future.
✨️Matariki Herenga Waka – stronger together, celebrating as one.✨️
