NCEA Exams

Date: 21 Oct 2025

Here is a full timetable of this year’s exams. By now, if your ākonga is entered in an external exam, they should should have:

  • Attended Tuesday’s exam information assembly. If not, here are the slides.

  • Been given their exam admission slip in Whānau. If not, they should contact their Kaiarahi (Whānau teacher).

  • Been given an exam information booklet at the assembly. If not, here is a digital copy.

  • Had the derived grade process explained to them for if they get sick or suffer a calamity that prevents them from attending their exam. Detailed information and the application form can be found here.

What can you do as parents/whānau?

  • Help them out with the basics such as when and where the exams are, what they need to bring and making sure they get good sleep prior to the exam.

  • Help them get organised with a quiet, clutter free study space.

  • Help them develop a study schedule based on when their exams are and how much material they need to revise. Research shows that regular, small study sessions are more efficient and effective than a long, last minute cramming session.

Check if they are studying effectively, rather than just passively reading over notes. This video outlines 6 effective, research backed study techniques. Additionally, AI tools such as NotebookLM can quickly convert all your student’s class materials and notes into flashcards, quizzes, study guides, podcasts and video explainers to assist them to study more efficiently.
