Success Story: Lukas Sparks His Career with Peebles Electrical!

A massive congratulations to Lukas Kjoss for securing a permanent, full-time apprenticeship with Peebles Electrical!

As part of his BCITO Gateway programme, Lukas took total initiative and independently sourced his own work placement with the team at Peebles. Through sheer dedication, a fantastic work ethic, and a proactive attitude on-site, Lukas made an incredible impression during his work experience. His hard work has officially paid off, turning that placement into a permanent career launchpad.

Taking the leap from the classroom into a full-time trade is a huge milestone. We are incredibly proud of Lukas for his drive and determination, and we extend a big thank you to Peebles Electrical for supporting our Gateway students.

Congratulations, Lukas—we wish you all the very best as you begin your electrical career!

Year 13 University & Scholarship Applications: Key Reminders

As we approach the end of the term, we want to ensure our Year 13 students heading toward tertiary study are well-prepared for upcoming scholarship deadlines.

Please chat with your student to ensure they are tracking ahead with the following steps:

  • Submit School Reference Requests: Students must submit their scholarship reference requests and student info forms as soon as possible. Getting these in now ensures teachers have time over the holiday break to draft thoughtful recommendations.

  • Submit the University Application First: Most universities require an active application for study live in their system before a student can apply for scholarships. We strongly recommend completing this application by the end of this term. Note: This initial application is not binding; students can easily change their chosen programs of study later.

  • Give it a Go: It is absolutely worth trying for these scholarships. The worst that can happen is a "no," but they certainly won't be considered if they don't apply! Just remind them to check the specific regulations and eligibility criteria for each scholarship carefully before submitting.

How to Request a School Reference:

Students must complete both of these Google Forms to request a reference from school:

  1. Scholarship Request Form (Complete for each scholarship being applied for)

  2. Student Info Form (Complete once)
