Tuna Tank continues to go from strength to strength. Much like the famous Shark Tank, this is where our students step into the spotlight to pitch their project ideas, seeking the funding and mentorship needed to bring their visions to life.
The atmosphere each week is electric and quite literally "bursting at the seams." With every slot fully booked, we continue to be blown away by the sheer quality of the pitches and the professional growth in our students’ presentation skills. It is truly inspiring to watch these young leaders use the Design Thinking process to tackle real-world problems and build the future-ready skills they’ll need to thrive.
Spotlight on: Project - Future Speeds
This week, we want to give a special shout-out to the team behind Project- Future Speeds: A group of Year 11s - Toby, Jacob, Jackson, Naishah, Mitchell, and Damon who are working with their Kaiako Mike Gunn.
Their project tackles a vital local issue: "How might we increase the pass rate of driving tests for young people in Hamilton?" The group’s professionalism and "top-notch" delivery were so impressive that they pushed the Tuna Tank panel to make a substantial financial commitment to their cause. Their dedication to making our community safer and more accessible is a testament to the incredible potential of our rangatahi. The photo shows the group in negotiations with the panel.
“Our young people are not just dreaming of a better community, they are actively building it, one pitch at a time.”
