We are incredibly disappointed to share that our school has recently been targeted by a series of e-scooter thefts. Over the last couple of months, there have been multiple instances where members of the public have intentionally entered our grounds to cut locks and steal student and staff property.
Please be assured that we are doing what we can to protect our students' belongings. We have already established a dedicated, gated e-scooter park located further inside the school grounds, away from public view and under CCTV coverage. Unfortunately, despite these preventative measures, these individuals are continuing to target our site.
We are currently working closely with the Police to identify those responsible and put a stop to this activity.
It is fantastic to see so many of our students walking, biking, or scootering to school, and we do not want these external actions to discourage that. While we continue to monitor the area and explore further security enhancements, one of the most effective ways to deter these specific thieves is the use of solid metal D-locks (similar to the image above), which cannot be easily cut with standard bolt cutters.
We will continue to do our part to combat this challenge and keep our grounds a safe place for our students and their property. Please continue to encourage your children to use the designated e-scooter park by the RJHS tennis courts.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for standing with us against this behaviour.
