On 24 May RSHS had a number of students performing in the Waikato Heats for the Smokefree Rockquest competition held at Clarence St Theatre.
This is an event where youth perform live, original music in a professional setting. There are two categories: Solo/Duo and Band.
From Rototuna Senior High we had 2 bands Supersage and False Alarm entered, and 1 duo Izzy and Yeain.
All performed exceptionally well, and we are pleased to announce that the band 'False Alarm' made up of Leo Steffert, Ewan Steenberg, Quin Ray and Luke Yates, AND the duo of Izzy McGuiness-Clark and Yeain Hur (Second place) have made it through to the Waikato Regional finals, where they have a chance to place for Nationals. This takes place on Saturday 14 June, 7pm at Clarence Street Theatre - we'd love to see many of our community there to support them!
A huge congratulations to all of the students involved in this event, and a special thank you to their music kaiako, Lee Clark, for all of his support and guidance for all of these wonderful tauira!
A special shout out to Leo and Izzy who are also our Danny and Sandy for the RSHS 2025 production of 'Grease' - soon tickets will be on sale for you to see them in that space too!!
