Here is Shreya's candidate statement:
I am very thankful for being able to receive this opportunity to work towards making our school a better place. This is why I can (hopefully) receive your vote for the 2024 student representative.
Firstly, a bit about me. My name is Shreya Chandra, I am a Year 9 going into Year 10 next year. I have been at RJHS since Year 7, and I enjoy various sports and activities, including dance, netball, crochet, and more! I also enjoy writing, reading, art, and overall just trying new things!
My experiences in this position include having several leadership positions. This includes Year 4 (student council), Year 5 (class representative), Year 6 (environment leader), and most recently Year 8 (Year 8 student council). Not only that but I have done numerous 'mini' leadership roles, like mentoring the new Year 8 student council and participating in many extra curriculums including dance, production, etc. These leadership roles have encouraged me to pursue further leadership roles, and this student representative role can help me do so.
You may have also seen me speaking in a few of your assemblies, and this shows I can step forward in my learning to take action.
But I also have other passions on why I want to be a part of the student representative board, here is why:
I would like to make school a positive and safe environment, for every student at our school. Because I am a student very close in age to the majority of our school, I would be able to understand what changes need to be made for our school to have a positive impact on us. This way I can help both our school and our students for a positive school life that will impact us for the better.
Another reason why I believe I would be a perfect candidate is that I would ensure that all students have opinions that are heard. I would make certain that all students in our school have a fair chance at their education and their voices are heard in the conversations we have. By being a part of the representative board, I would be able to take action and make sure that our students (including you!) would have the opportunity to have a successful and full school experience that you can enjoy.
I want to help make our students become an overall success and school a better place. So all students feel safe, valued, cherished, and welcome in school. By putting these values to use, we can achieve this goal. With these goals in action, I and all of you can focus on making our school an overall success, and I truly believe that this will help the future of our school in every aspect.
I truly appreciate you taking the time to read this and you can understand why I believe it is the best choice for you to vote for me for the 2024 student representative.
Thank you, Shreya Chandra
