The challenge aims to promote understanding of the brain and its functions, highlight recent discoveries in neuroscience, dispel myths about neurological and mental illnesses, and showcase career opportunities in brain research.
Out of 337 students across 32 North Island schools, Aarav’s performance stood out, placing him in the 80–89% band. As a result, he was invited to attend a site visit to the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences at the University of Auckland, which included lab tours, guest speakers, and engaging neuroscience activities.
We’re proud to share that Aarav has now been awarded a prestigious internship at the Centre for Brain Research. This Brain Bee internship offers students a chance to experience a 'day in the life' of a neuroscientist, exploring careers in neuroscience, biomedical science, and beyond. With support from the Neurological Foundation, 30 internships were awarded to outstanding participants from the North Island competition.
