Unsung Hero's: Dion Payne & Hadon Westerby

Date: 8 Aug 2024

Thanks to The Keg Room and Cafe Inc, we are very grateful to reward two passionate men who give up their time to support our 1st XV team.

In his nomination, Dion has been described as someone loves rugby, and loves his involvement with the RHS 1st XV. He is someone who puts high value around building a positive culture based grounded through respect and politeness. Dion also is someone who likes to win, however, it’s not at the expense of poor attitude and behaviour. He sets up the expectation for boys to become men, and treats the players with respect and as equals whilst giving them autonomy to express their thoughts and views towards their trainings and games.

Hadon has come into the RHS 1st XV and rugby programme a little after the season got underway in 2025. He is someone that has a lot of knowledge around the game and delivers this in such away that is engaging and enjoyable for the players and other coaches to be a part of. Hadon puts the player at the forefront of his thinking and regularly is seen taking time talking to players 1:1 about their on and off field success, whilst also creating some highlights for them to reflect and have memories that will last well beyond the year. Most recently Hadon has taken it upon himself to connect coaches and players across all levels of the school to try and build a visible pathway for our younger teams aspiring to be in the 1st XV for years to come.

We appreciate the support these two men give to our students and we wish them the best of luck for the remainder of their seasons.
