Whānau Spotlight

Date: 3 Jun 2025

This term, our whānau curriculum focus is Huarahi Ako — a learning journey where students explore future pathways beyond school. Through a mix of reflection, discussion, and interactive tools, students are considering their strengths, interests, and values, and how these align with potential careers, further learning, or vocational opportunities.

All students will be using Careers Central, an online programme that helps them identify possible career fields through quizzes and personal profiles. From here, students are encouraged to explore a wide range of options and take a deeper look into specific roles — including what qualifications, experiences, or next steps might be required to get there.

Whether they’re just beginning to think about their future or already forming clear plans, Huarahi Ako is about widening horizons and supporting our young people to make informed, confident choices.

As part of this mahi, next week we’re holding a ‘Find Your Future Fit’ day, Friday 13th June, a non-uniform day where students are invited to dress as a career they’re interested in exploring — a fun and creative way to bring their aspirations to life.
