Year 8 & 9 Cyber Safety Sessions

Date: 20 Aug 2024

The officers gave some very important key messages about the impacts and seriousness of bullying and antisocial behaviour online and in real life.  These key messages form part of our Digital Citizenship Advisory Curriculum. This term the follow topics are being covered:

Year 7 - Staying Safe Online

Year 8 - News or Views

Year 9 - Digital Footprint and Reputation

Year 10 - Images and Balance (online and offline)

We encourage you to have some conversations with your young people at home about what they are learning  in advisory this term and the key messages from the Year 8 and Year 9 police information sessions. Many students may not have been aware of the full extent of laws and impacts involved in digital information and communication. The officers discussed how bullying, fighting and antisocial behaviour leads to harm in our community.

If you are concerned about how best to support your student with digital safety there is a great guide on the Netsafe website that can be downloaded in English, Te Reo, Simplified Chinese, Tongan & Samoan here.
